Stopping to catch her breath, having spent some time and energy making the Temple ready for use again, Lacy looked slowly and carefully around her. Memories of the different temples she’d known in Port Luskan and in Solice played through her mind…the sparkle of the light and the breeze of the curtains in the first Temple she’d known here, the one where she’d met Elirien, the High Priestess then, the temple where she had first taken her vows as priestess….the airiness and the smell of the sea air from the Temple in Solice, the memories of the time Lady Tay was dead and they all had to help with bringing her back almost overwhelming her with their intensity,….the memories of this small temple in Cliffside, where she had performed the blessing ceremony for the triplets (“I wonder if the children will be here in Dream. I would so love to see them as well as KW and Lady Tay.”)….the memories of the temple on Serenity Island, where the Goddess had called her away to travel and bring healing to various communities…..

Lacy wondered again why this was the temple that she had found in Dream. Perhaps because it was the Temple of the Moon, she mused, and her calling had definitely been from the Goddess of the Moon.

Lacy sighed and shook her head slightly to clear her thoughts, then studied the Temple again. The windows were open, the slight breeze causing the curtains to sway just the tiniest bit; the table was clean and shining, with the candles in the crystal candlesticks burning brightly and the crystal bowls reflecting the flames; the cushions arranged in the meditation area, a place of stillness waiting for anyone who would seek a quiet place for reflection or prayer. She smiled, content with what she saw and then stepped outside to the courtyard in front. Snow crunched slightly under her steps as she walked to the railing that overlooked the sea. How often she had stood here, in the light of her Lady Moon, thinking, seeking guidance or strength, reflecting on the problems at hand.

She turned and considered the Temple again. What if someone here should need a priestess and not have a way to contact her? What if there were people here who should see the Temple and not know that there was a priestess here, who had answered Cel’s call? She frowned slightly, considering the problem, and then thought of Alyra’s book for people to sign in the Book Shop. Searching the back corners of the Temple, Lacy found a small table, an old tablet, a quill, but she could not find any ink. She pulled the table to the front of the Temple, by the door, cleaned and polished it, laid the tablet and the quill on the table, and then headed for the .

Surely, Alyra would be able to help her find ink.

Lacy smiles, entering the Temple, and sets about arranging the things she’d brought….adding the ink to the table with the tablet and the small box for messages, and arranging the apples and rolls on a clean tray on the table with the candlesticks.

“There,” she says quietly to herself, feeling quite pleased, “the Temple is ready for anyone that might need either physical or spiritual nourishment.”

As she turns to head back out, she suddenly stops, listening to the words in the air, smiling as she recognizes KW’s voice.

“Yes, I am back and glad to hear you, old friend. I can’t wait to see you and Lady Tay and each of the children. It is so good to be back together.”

In the empty temple, Alyra steps to the guest book and lifts the quill. She ponders for a moment, the blank page beckoning before her. Then she writes:

Alyra Moondancer. I come to embrace the path before me, and to dance in the light of Lady Moon.

She steps back, the quill still in her fingers. Then she notices the small box and considers. Feeling slightly self-conscious, she pulls the sheet with her writing from the tablet and folds it, preparing to put it in the box. She hesitates, then withdraws and unfolds the paper.

Beneath her signature, with great care and deliberation, she writes a message. Then, holding her face still, she refolds the paper and slips it into the box.

Location: over hill, over dale, through bush, through briar, over park, over pail, through flood, through fire
Little lightfoot in the temple
skips around cushions,
blows out a candle
just to watch the curling smoke;

Grins and giggles,
scribbles a message,
twists it 'round an acorn and
plinks it in the box.

Out window, over threshold, through snowdrift, through wood and
home again, home again, home again.
